What is a Barn Dance?
Unlike American Square & Scottish dancing where you need to learn the steps & dance figures, you need absolutely no experience for one of our Barn Dances!
Otherwise known as Ceilidh, Country dance, Community dance, they are dances (usually with a partner) that are called by an experienced caller (yes - you practice them first or walk them through).
They are repetitive, so that after a couple of times through you know them.
The movements are easy to learn and come up over and over during the evening in different dances.
The Caulkheads dance music is lively and tells you what to do and when to do it.
